Default Anyione heard about a site called PhotoSpin?

I got an e-mail from Val Gelineau, the owner of Photospin asking me if I would be interested in joining his site. They pay differently then the "traditional" micro stock sites.

$10 per people photo and $5.00 for other types, one time upfront payment with acceptance of each photo. Im not sure yet on the terms of usuage but a quick Google search let me know that they have a deal with Corel Draw and have been around since the mid to late 90's.

I dont have people photos but at $5.00 per photo I could do pretty good. Lets say they take 400 of my photos then that means I get a quick $2000 check. Nice thing is I can still sell them at the micro sites since there non exclusive.

Anyone belong there? Any thoughts on it at all, good or bad. Im debating this offer and could use some feedback to help make my decision.

Thanks

Mike

Hey Mike-

I've heard of them, I think I have some images from them in our collection at work. I never knew they paid upfront like that. That's peanuts to a professional photographer, but for guys like us - that's a goldmine. I checked out www.photospin.com - gota look into this!

Mike....
The up front money.... looks good.... but what about after that ?

Does the up front money cover X amount of sales before you make any more money ?
Or is that a bonus just for up loading and then you'll be paid per sale also ?

OR is that "all" the money you'll end up getting ?

It could be a good thing... but you should check it out carefully and make sure there isn't anything hidden in there that will screw you in the long run....

I heard the name.... but other then that I don't know anything about them... it will be interesting to see how it goes.... Good Luck with it bud....

I remeber this site coming up in discussionm, and im sure it was benny that told us about the image size restrictions..

Checking..

Yeah
(quote bennyM)
"They want the submissions to be, 5400 pixels at 300 dpi on the longest side....
My camera wont make it they're out.... "

Yeah that was the problem - the majority of our cameras were not up to the task with the possible exception of Graceys, If i remember rightly..

They do like like quite a professional outfit. If your gear is up to the task.

Cheers

Doug

Default Requirements

I don't think they are going to get very far with their requirements. Not even a Canon 1Ds Mrk II meets their requirements for resolution. It only has a long side of 4992 pixels. So only a few specialized medium format digital backs will work. Unless you are scanning in slides. Anybody with that kind of equipment isn't going to sell their images for $5 or $10. Of course you only have to look at their site and do a few searches. They have almost no images.
