Default New Stock Photo Site: MyStock.com

I work for MyStock and we just barely launched our BETA site. It is severely restricted at this point but photographers can begin to upload photos and build their collection. Just don't expect to search or purchase anything yet.

Here's a few things that make us different...
1. We accept only high quality images (imagine that)
2. Our price scale reflects our high quality. License fees range from $29 - $129 (depending on size)
3. We don't sell images for a buck (and you shouldnt either!)

Basically we're trying to combine the open contributor model of a microstock site but have the quality standards of a traditional stock agency with a price somewhere in the middle.
If you've got a minute, drop in and check us out. We'd appreciate feedback but be nice, we're still fine tuning things.
Sorry for the shameless plug.

Why not? I would rather sell 1,000 for $1 than zero for $100. some sites that sell images for $1 make a nice amount of money.

Your site seems similar to Image Vortex. I haven't heard of anyone making much money there yet. How will your site be different?

I don't want to open the can of worms you are presenting about selling 1000 photos for $1. If that works for you and you are comfortable with that type of compensation then our site is probably not for you.

Our difference is content, not just price. Just offering a higher price with higher compensations is not enough (but it is a step in the right direction). Most high end designers we have spent time with get very annoyed with the collections most "microstock" sites present. There are a lot of good images, some great images, and some, well, not so good. Sometimes you don't find out that they are not so good until you purchase them and view them at 100%. We hope to present a brand of "great images" on every page and we believe designers will pay for the convenience of not wasting time weeding through mediocre images to get to the good ones. Along those lines we are implementing a controlled vocabulary to make searches more precise (another negative with most microstock sites according to our research data). There are other issues as well but I don't want to ramble on more than I already have.

I wish you the best of luck in your photography endeavors.

As this is a microstock site, I don't think you will find many people here who have a problem selling an image for $1. I don't see why this would rule them out from selling at higher prices. There are people here that contribute to microstock, midstock and the traditional sites.

I am sending new images to the higher priced sites and might be interested in your site when I can see there are sales there. There are so many sites now that I am becoming picky.

I wish you the best of luck in your business adventures.
