Default Photo on Scientific American

I find my photos in use often enough now that it's no longer a big deal. But today I found one and am jumping with joy.

It's a photo of my daughter, who is legally blind, trying to navigate through sidewalk construction using her cane. Scientific American published it with an article about the development of virtual maps that will enable the blind to read maps through sound and touch. The maps will be developed using ordinary video cameras, too, instead of the current expensive specialty cameras (interesting news for the videographers among us).

Getting in Touch: Virtual Maps for the Blind: Scientific American

It's so exciting to see a photo of my daughter on a major magazine's website AND learn about technological breakthroughs for the visually impaired at the same time.

:-D

All i can say is: congratulations!

Although I've never been able to find my work in process, I'm sure that when I will I'll be so very happy.

Keep up the good work and many more sales to you!

Congrats Karin! That's just brilliant. Love the fact that they credit you with your name and not only iStock.

Have just been to Finland, and apparently the Finnair magazine editors are using loads of iStock images too. Couldn't find any of mine so I didn't bother trying to find out whose images they were but there were quite a few. Anyhoo, don't wanna sidetrack your thread of glory.

Kudos Karin!

Great to see your work in Scientific American, congrad's. Won't it be wonderful when these maps and the system is available.

Thanks everyone!!!

And what makes it so special aside from being "big time" is that my daughter gets to share the moment with me. :-) Her whole objective as a model is to educate the world about blindness, so she achieved her goal, too. It's very special to both of us.
