Default Yay, I'm in to iStock Footage!

Yay! I've been lazy, I know... plus the payout is so much less than SS... but I haven't sold that many on SS, so maybe its the buyers, they want lower prices, so I'm going to give them what they want.

Any experiences with selling footage on iStock?

They outline it in the Videographer's Instructions link in your control panel... you have to submit a little low-res version saved in .mp4 format, sized down to 320x240 so they can get a feel for what you do. Yes, it takes 3 clips. Then once they are accepted, you have to upload the high-res versions in .mov format (Quicktime), saved at 100% and at full size. Those clips have to go through the approval process too but they are at the front of the queue once you get the approval for your "little" clips.

Some are saying they're selling faster than they are on Shutterstock... probably because they're less expensive... the Wal-Mart philosophy, make them cheaper and sell more! We'll see!

Thanks! Now I have about 28 clips approved and a few more in the queue... its great, no rejections yet except when I compressed the high-res ones too much with Sorensen Squeeze instead of using Quicktime Pro (it was giving me trouble)... I opened a thread in the forum and asked if anyone was using any other compression codec to compress the .MOV format they want, and a guy gave me the link to MPEG_Streamclip which is the BOMB! It works great and is a lot more powerful than QT Pro!

Here's the link: http://www.squared5.com/

Now I am getting the animation bug, learning After Effects to do some of the amazing, wonderful and quite USEFUL backgrounds people are creating, and you can render them at HD and possibly sell a clip for $50! We'll have to start a thread in here about that, setting up After Effects to do an HD clip.

Thanks y'all!
