any free video footage edit software?

is it good to get rid of the background messy sound and load or to load it with the sound? How to get rid of the sound? Anyone knows a free good video edit software?

i downloaded Streamclip. Have not really used it yet....will see. For those looking for a free one. I hear somewhere else that its good

Avid Free is about the most comprehensive I've seen. It's a little complicated in my opinion but then I don't fully understand all the video jargon. But it is free to download and use and they even provide a good level of support with a forum. They have PC and Mac version
