Default Time Lapse a good way to go?

Ive been thinking of doing a few time lapse movies,

They seem to be quite popular on the stock sites.

There also easy to produce with a basic digi cam and some free software.

The resolution of of a half decent digi still cam is Hi Def quality so who needs an expensive video camera to get into Stock Footage!

The only thing thats stopping me is that i dont want to use my DSLR for fear of wearing out the shutter. Ive heard that the 350d only have 50k shutter actions (MTTF) and a decent length time lapse could use up 1000 of those..

Worth a try? maybe i could get an old handheld off ebay!

Of course its worth a try, especially if SS and IS will take it (why wouldn't they?). I have a small Mini-DV cam that shoots *almost* as good video as my 3-CCD Canon XL2, they are cheap and easy to use! My little one is a Canon ZR500 and I spent $300 on it 6 months ago, I think they're cheaper now! Then you'll need the software... that can be a lot more expensive unless you use Windows Movie Maker (can you do time-lapse on that?) or even Adobe Premiere Elements which is only $99.

Be sure to let us know how it goes!
