Default Footage sales at Shutterstock

I sell lots of photos at Shutterstock but I thought it might be fun to try and sell some video too. I made some clips and actually got a few accepted. I have had 11 clips online for a few months and not one sale.

Has anyone had any luck selling stock footage at Shutterstock? Is it worth shooting some new stuff?

I uploaded my first batch about 6 months ago at SS and have yet to have a sale. I get all of my video clip sales at iStock, though it took a few months before the first one sold.

i wonder why footage sales at SS are so slow.

Thanks for the tip on iStock, I havent tried them yet. I had such a hard time getting accepted for photography I figured I didnt have a chance at videography, but what would it hurt to try, right?

It would be great to get some footage sales there, I could reach payout so much faster at $10-$20 per sale.

Yes, if you haven't tried your clips on IS by all means do so. I've found the acceptance rate to be very high. And yes, those larger royalties are nice too. No harm in expanding the portfolio to other types of imagery.

I made over a hundred bucks on video at SS on August 1st. Unfortunately i've only matched that amount with the rest of the year.

IS is cheaper for the buyers, and seems to sell better, but SS hasn't been completely without merit (i only have a small portfolio)

$100 in two months! Thats pretty good. I still havent had one video sale with 14 clips online for around four months. I dont know why I got my hopes up I dont really know squat about video. I had one video basics class in college and I am using a cheap camcorder. I did get accepted to istockvideo, ive just been having a had time getting my first batch of full resolution clips uploaded because of my slow internet.

Could you post a link to your video portfolio at SS so I can see what kind of stuff your selling?

here is a link to mine
Shutterstock Footage: Gallery for travis manley

Thanks!

Thats impressive! Ive only got a little over 30 clips at SS and still not one sale. iStock finally started reviewing video I uploaded a month ago and i got a few accepted.

Im working on some 3d animation, but I read iStock wants you to upload screen shots of the models being made so they have proof you made them. That seems a little crazy to me. Not to mention a big waste of time. It would be like asking photographers to send them photos of a photo shoot to prove that they took the photos.

Im also having trouble getting my 3d clips that I rendered out as HD uploaded at iStock. When I render them out at 720x486 they upload just fine. Anyone else had this problem?
