The first time I knew about FP was on a site that I use to enter photo contests at POTY (Photos-of-the-year.com) - Saw that someone started a thread there on Stock Photography - Found the quote below from the articles, news page at FP - and this is what I read at POTY that caught my attention and happy so far that it did

Stock photography. Is that a bad word?

150,000 images maybe that is not a huge amount of images... But when you are talking about 1000 new friends it is quite a lot! This year was a start. A lot of mistakes, and attempts to fix them (Thank God, our Contributors helped us a lot) and we slowly, but surely, are entering into this complicated world of stock photography.

We started this business because of Photography. The word "stock" has been added just because it is the correct term for photos that are not custom made for a specific purpose.

Stock photography. Is that a bad word?
We have been online for one year, and we have heard a lot of very interesting opinions. In summarizing them, we would like to highlight some misunderstood concepts.

I respsonded to the thread, then when I went back, it was missing. Then I received an email from a friend who knew I did stock and thought I might be interested in the featurepics site - sooooooooo, here I am.

there is a lot of discussion on photography sites about micrstocks, most of it bad, so I decided to find out for myself and came across this site in my travels.
I haven't yet joined any microstock sites yet but hope to soon.

Shaun.

Default Hello

Hey Guys.

*waves to everyone*

Just saying hello.

I read that Time magazine with "you" as the person of the year. Spotted the bit about iStockPhoto and thought "hmm, maybe some of my 800 photos I took on my 2 month South America holiday might be worth something". So I googled around found this place via thesupe87's blog post on micro photography.

Signed up with bigstockphoto and fotolia to get a portfolio up, so I can get accounts on iStockPhoto and ShutterStock.

Oh, hi2u Gracey, you seem to be on all the micro forums , thanks for commenting on some of my rejections on fotolia.

Lots of info available here, more than I can absorb at one time.
Have small portfolios at FP, LO, and signed up under Karimala at BSP, even got accepted there  No sales yet, but I will just keep snapping away at it.
