Default TalkMicro Photo Albums

Doug posted this in the critiques section of the forum, but I think more people use the General Discussion forum, so I'm going to copy it here and provide instructions.

Doug has created photo albums for the members - there are Personal Albums, Your Best Images (Public Albums), and a Royalty Freebies Album (where you can post "give-away" pics for designers to sample your work.

The albums link is here:

www.talkmicro.com/album.php

but you can also access the album link directly from the main forums page. At the top of the page where you have the links for FAQ, memberlist, Profile, Messages, etc. is also a button for "Album".

To create your personal albums:

1) click on the link for "Personal Albums".
2) if you haven't uploaded any pics it will say "Members Name has not created a personal album yet.
3) At the bottom left of the page is a button that says "upload photo" - click on that and follow the instructions to upload a photo from your computer.

To view other members galleries click on the "Users Personal Galleries" link.

To upload photos to the other albums the method is the same - click on the album link and then on the upload button.

Any questions or help needed feel free to pm or email me

Here's a snapshot of the album page - personal album link is on the bottom "Users Personal Galleries - Your Personal Gallery

I'd really like to post some of my pics but uploading them will take a lot of time, since I am using dial-up. Can I insert a link from a stock agency instead? Regards. ljupco

Do you mean just a link or a hotlink (where the image actually shows up)?

At any rate, I don't know if there's a way to do that because it's an image upload function.

This is one Doug will have to answer.

Great work Gracey,

ljupco: Im sorry but I can't see an easy way to "hot link" into the Albums! What you can do is resize the pictures to a size you can upload easily. 600 x 400, would make for quite a small image and would be OK to upload on a modem.

It would be great if we could see some of your shots.

thesupe87: Im glad some of the pictures are useful, as Gracey said keep checking. If you use the pictures for some of your designs if would be good if you could use the comment system and let us know where they were used!

theres nothing more rewarding than seeing an image in use.

Doug

Oh, most definitely. At my job, I'm always looking for a good image to use in an ad, or an editorial layout....even a great shot for one of our magazine covers. If I were to use anything from the gallery, I would no doubt give credit where credit was due I would insert a picture credit "photo by John Smith" - I know personally, if anyone ever used any of my images, I would be thrilled to see them in action. I don't even care if it was for a huge, national ad campaign - and even if I only received .20 - .50 for selling the photo...I would still be thrilled to find out where my photo was actually used

I actually want to try and contact a few of the photographers I've purchased photos from, and link them to our company website. To see your own work either on the web, or in print somewhere is a great feeling.

I added a couple of images to the gallery, and I will add more to it whenever I get some free time. Keep on checkin' back, folks!!

I'd love to comment on the images in the album, but it won't let me - I don't have enough privledges. Is my post count too low or something? Maybe that's it...

??
