Default Same photo/different sites

In looking Ive run across a few of the exact same photo on two different microstock sites.

Obviosly these photographers are not exclusive but is this ok to do? Anyone else doing this?

These photos were not different versions of the same photo and they seem to be big sellers on both of the micro sites i looked at.

Yes, this is fairly standard practice. I upload all my images to several sites. But I never opt for "Sell the rights" because that would require immediately pulling the picture from all the sites you have it on and that isn't always possible with some sites.

I also submit all my photos to the same sites. I never opt in for exclusivity and I also never submit what I submit to Microsites to Photographersdirect, thats a no no and they state that in thier terms and conditions. I only submitted exclusive once to LO, but then I decided it wasnt really worth it to carry on doing that.

Might want to read their TOS again, the way I read it, you are not aloud to have any images on micro sites.

Quote -"The only exceptions are micropayment sites such as istockphoto, canstockphoto, shutterstock, dreamstime, bigstockphoto, crestock - we cannot represent photographers who market any of their images on these sites."

you gotta spread your junk out- When I was selling only on one site, I didn't make 1/10th of what I make now with the same images on all of the major micro sites.

Think about it... If Coca Cola only sold their soda exclusively at Wal-Mart, would they make more money? It's the same with our product. We're the wholesalers. 8)
