MINORS: You can join SS, under parent name.
Just got this email from Shutterstock, after inquiring about my Dad making an account for myself.
Quote:
Hello,
You may sign up for your son, but you would be legally responsible if he
violates the terms of service. You can either read the terms very carefully and
let him know, or he can wait until he turns 18 and sign up on his own.

**PLEASE NOTE** Other sites may have different policies, check before you do the same thing with other sites, as you could with SS.

CRAP!!!

Hello,
After looking into this further, both of your sons would have to be "of legal
age" in your state in order for them to submit. This means that you cannot sign
up for either of them as I had previously stated. Sorry for the incorrect info
before.

I sent an email back asking about this, since he made it seem like there's a law in Pennsylvania against it.
Son of a Buisinessman! My brother and I want a linked account, since we can't both put it under my parent's name, and that's what they said. That's very frustrating that they changed their minds on this!! Grr!!
Fortunately, every other Microstock site has said it is OK for my Dad to signup, and me use the account.
SS just lost any work of mine, to their compeditors. For the next 6 months, that I would have contributed.

Dude have your dad sign up, and use the account yourself. What's the problem? Who's going to be able to tell? The only thing that gets complicated is that is you make over $400, then your dad's going to have to fill out a W9 tax form in his name, and not yours. You can work the details out with him about that. It will be his account, only you are his employee
I have accounts set up for my boss on micro sites, and he doesn't even know how to log in. He wanted me to do it, so that he can make some side money off of his vacation photos. Noone would ever be able to tell who's using the account. I have his username and password, since I created it - he has it as well, but he doesn't know how to submit stuff himself...

The emails I sent include me and my Dad's names, both first and last. There would be definite suspicion from them about our account if I did set one up.

Awwww man...you blew your chances. That's okay - Oh well, at least you'll be 18 soon enough. 18 kinda sucks because all you get to do is buy ciggarettes and scratch offs, but no alcohol yet. 21 is where it's at. Then after 21, its all downhill. I just hit the big two-four :P I'm getting old.

By the time you are able to sign up you'll have a huge portfolio and by FTP you will be able to flood SS with your work and make up for lost time. Go ahead!

Hahaha, all right guys, thanks for the encouragement!
I've already uploaded my first two attempts at stock photography up on Fotolia, waiting to see if they get accepted or not!

Can't use iStockphoto either now, cause my dad thinks it's too dangerous to send in a copy of photo ID, which is required at iStockphoto....
