Default over 18 to join stock sites and submit pics?

I know somone who is 15, and wants to try his hand at microstock photography.

From memory, most sites you need to be 18 to join for legal reasons, i think.

Does anyone know of any sites where a 15 or 16 year old might be able to submit microstock photos for resale?

In most countries, in order for a contract to be valid, the parties must be over 18. Therefore they wont enter into a contract with an under 18yo as they couldn't enforce the TOS.

Not sure there is much to get around this. Maybe set up account in parents name??

There you go. Then you can take it over next year. That's what I'd do if I were in your shoes.

I would be really careful about this. The TOS on most sites state that the work you submit must be YOUR work. If they find out otherwise, you could be in serious trouble. I would suggest that if you are going to set up an account of someone else or if someone else has set up an account for you, be very careful and don't tell anyone about it. You don't want to lose the account or worse.

This is starting to really bother me now. I want to start signing up for some sites, but I need to find out if they allow my parents to give me consent or something.

Signing up will be a problem and getting the money could be the same. You could talk to your parents and make the account on one of them's name, without telling anybody. If you don't say nobody will know.

I wouldnt do this, but thats just me. Id play by the rules to save further problems arising. It looks like anyone under 18 is goign to have a problem taking and selling photos then, they'll have to wait. Which is a shame.

I'm asking around the ShutterStock forums, and I sent an email to them too asking about it.

It's like 6 more months til I turn 18...if I need to, I can wait that long. I sure as hell will have alot of photos to rush them with
