Crestock has an ftp upload function also. I've found it very quick and nicely designed.

One other I've joined opened an ftp upload for me also, though they are also new and haven't loaded all of my images yet - they will have some growing pains. At this point they are basically a spanish language site, but they are working on a multilingual interface. The ftp upload isn't open sitewise, but when they looked at my first submissions and I asked about ftp they gave me an ftp account password, so you have to ask, and I guess they'll either give one based on your images or not...not sure. (since I just started uploading last week and they've been down a lot in that time period I can't issue a recommendation for them yet. They look pretty good, but only time will tell).

BigStockPhoto - I'm slowly working my way to my first payout, I'm about halfway there...This is my first major micropayment site endeavor.

Awesome ftp function. If you images are under 2 megpixels tho, or whatever they're limit is- they just never show up in the pending files cue. Sometimes you can get an approver to still accept it, if it's really good - you just have to upload it manually through the html upload.

StockXPert has a terrific system. You FTP into a briefcase, then you drag your uploads into a personal folder. Usually, images are reviewed without keywording or categorizing within a couple of days. I delete the rejections, THEN keyword (or clean up keywords on IPTC) and categorize. Once that's done, I move the completed images to the main folder. Very slick.

I have heard a lot of people frustrated (and they warn you) that they are VERY picky about noise - almost to the point of insane. Been with them one month, have about 125 with them and have sold 3. They just went from beta to live after Jupiter made the backing announcement.

eendicott:

Having FTP makes uploading sop much quicker..

Stockxpert is a new one on me, 3 sales in a month doesnt seem like alot for 125 images, How much do they pay per sale? As these guys are new and look tio ghave decent backing they could be one to watch.

I like FTP as well but at Shutterstock, their system won't allow me to do it because I have dashes in my file names. I don't mind the other methods.

At StockXPert I've earned 50 cents per download. Minimum payout is $50. My portfolio is somewhat limiting in that I don't have any people shots - two downloads of a pepperoni pizza and one of a 2005 Form 1040 (for U.S. Income Tax).

I'm not sure what everyone else's experience is, but I tend to discount expectations of earnings outside of Shutterstock, Dreamstime, iStock, or Bigstock. I really believe in the "get in early" concept and don't mind uploading to smaller places (even if it is one at a time) - the less choices customers have, the more likely they are to download from a smaller portfolio like mine.

I agree with you about less choice, may mean you have more chance of getting your images "chosen"

I think to "keep up" with other sites growth you need to keep uploading small ammounts, this allways encourages people to look into your portfolio. A a sudden boost in sales can often be seen. I prefer to upload little and often.

You dont have to upload much - just keep adding the occasional image.

It suits me as rarely do I get more than 10 minutes to upload!

Less choice can also mean less traffic to the site tho.

Hey...this was my 100th post - OMG, I need to shut up :?
