Default Just started

I only found out about micro stock sites a few days ago and at first thought it looked like a bad idea. After doing some research, I changed my mind and have decided to go for it. Submitted to lots of sites ans 123rf are the first to accept my photos. Will be great to make my first sale.

This site has been a great help and I have enjoyed reading lots of the posts.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck on your new endeavour.

Your first sale will come pretty fast if you select the right sites to apply to. Then you're addicted ;-)

Have fun.

cheers,

Thanks everyone,

So far, I have applied to:-

shutterstock
istockphoto
123rf
bigstockphotos
fotolia
image vortex
dreamstime

123rf accepted my first 10 photos, image vortex rejected the first photo I uploaded and I haven't had my photos reviewed with the other sites. Will wait and see how these go before looking at other sites.

I'm at Dreamstime, Shutterstock, iStock, Bigstock, 123RF and a few peanuts that make not too much like CanStock. Stock sites change all the time. I used to be rejected at SS for too much noise, but with a new 10MP cam, all gets accepted. I got everything passed at BS before, but with their new policy, 40% gets rejected because "too much of the same". My mistake, I uploaded a large batch in one day.

Also every stock site has its own market. Pictures that sell on one site, don't sell at another. Reason to submit to more than one. I guess if you are accepted at DT,SS,iS, you're quite OK. It's better to upload 5-10 pics per day maximum, varied subjects, than large batches. If not, you risk to get "too much of the same" rejects.

Another thing is, don't forget the joy to photograph what you want, not what sells. You can do explicit stock pictures in between of course, but don't let your photographic life be guided by stock-only.

OK, did I earn it? Now for some shameless spam ;-)
Whoever is on Dreamtime and can vote on the assignment, give me a big 5 ;-) I want another DT t-shirt

I think it is already too late, I'm hooked

Thanks for the advice. I have a 6mp SLR, so hope that will be OK. If the subject is still, I sometimes take 2 photos and join them together. I am also working on some digital art images and might have a look at blender. That software looks capable of producing some of the images I have seen that sell well.

Hi Sharpshot,

Hooked already? Welcome to the club.

6mp is quite sufficient. I'm using a 6mp camera myself. Seldom had the need to do stitching, unless I'm taking landscapes, and I want the wider view.

Also, I try to keep my post-processing to a minimum.

cheers,
