Default Earnings

IStock earns me more per image than SS though as I have four times as many images I gross more on SS... Canstock has earned me $1.50 with over 100 images in the portfolio! Gimmestock has yet to review an image after a week. I find IS much more helpful in their rejections; they actually tell you how to fix a problem if it cab be fixed.

SS at the moment, but I have hopes for Totally Photos and two others that are just starting out. higher sales prices, larger cut for the photogs on those sites, so I hope they take off.

Totally Photos has a very helpful review and rejection system too - I've had one rejection there, but they include instructions for fixing the photo and then ask you to resubmit. Nice.

Crestock seems an iffy one to me, though I've submitted some. They rejected 6 that have been accepted at all other sites, including SS, so I am still trying to feel my way around what they want image wise. I'm not going to spend a lot of time uploading here yet, but will add slowly.

Gimmestock - well, my last batch there took 20 days for review and they also rejected one which has been accepted everywhere else for "overexposure"...and I've sold nothing there in all the time I've been there. Lots of people saying they've not had any sales there including laurin rinder, whose images are immaculate. If he can't sell there I'm a little concerned about how long they'll be around. The upload here is very slow and the review even slower. I'll probably submit from time to time the odd photo, but I'm not wasting a lot of time uploading stuff here.

What I don't like about a number of these sites: there's no way to delete an image once in the catalogue. At least with SS you can remove them (Totally Photos also) from your gallery as your images improve.

Me too SS, is my best earner, I have submitted the same ammount of pictures to both SS and Istock, My gallery with Istock is only 2/3 of the size of my SS gallery because of higher rejections.

I have sold three times as many pics at SS!

The trick is at Istock is to stay active, and create galleries, becaome part of the community.

I really think if I spent as much time Networking at Istock as I do submitting to other sites that I might make just as much money...

Gracey - I think crestock looks a little dodgy too, it looks like they have made the site look good but it doesnt have as much backing as they claim...

Spotted a post on Crestock today. They haven't yet put their marketing plan into action. They say this is slated for March.

I have no problem waiting - with newly starting sites things tend to work that way. They are right in wanting to have the infrastructure in place to support the clients when they finally arrive. Wouldn't be good to have clients come to try out the pics and then not have stuff working at optimum efficiency.

I just am a little unsure about their ability to judge quality images. Today they had two pics on the best/worst section: the best, while cute had blown highlights; the worst was a pretty good stock image, as I see it

Default Best earner

SS followed by BSP but I have a very very small portfolio. This is more of a hobby for me and my real daytime job (school teacher) just handed my three more classes. Now I'm up to 8 classes a day and have very little free time for photogrpahy.

Too bad too - perfect opportunities in and around a school when you've got the break time. (Kid shots would be nice, but can't do that without permission) but things like desks, books, rows of coats, boots, chalkboards - wow - I wish

When i was in school all the teachers had 8 classes a day; 30 to 35 kids per class, and boy, you had to learn stuff and you got homework.

things are so different in today's education system; my kids almost never got homework and had two "free" periods a day. their kids (now in school) get out an hour before my kids used to and have 4 classes a day, with longer breaks in between - and that's the schoolboard, not the teachers who make those changes.

sometimes I feel sorry for the teachers: they are pretty much locked into doing what the schoolboard says but it's the teachers who wind up taking the brunt of the parents ire.

....well, a least here in this county

I wish too but hauling a laptop, and two totebags of materials and books to 5 different classrooms in 4 different buildings isn't conducive to hauling the camera gear around.

It wouldn't be so bad if it were all the same subject, but it isn't. 5th and 6th general science (2 classes each grade) , 8th grade Earth Science, 10th grade biology and chemistry, 11th biology. 6 different sets of lesson plans, six different sets of tests.

That is the same everywhere. I just finished a hassle with the Ministry of Education over a kid who failed a class and did not get promoted. Education in Honduras is controlled at the federal level and the parents went to the Ministry of Education over it. I at least had a congresswoman back me up...and presented the ministry with a complete copy of all grades and the actual final exam she took and failed.

Currently my best earner is SS, but I recently noticed that sales on IS are picking up as well. What about totally photos? Does anyone upload there? They seem to pay more than the other sites. Regards from Macedonia. Ljupco
