Yes, I've seen a lot of great shots done like this - did one myself. That's been around a while that technique.

Good link.

I watch that site sometimes - some of the contest entrants use my free photos

It's a cool technique,i saw one on the photoshop elements site i think.There was a killer whale jumping out of the photo with the trainer above at a show,loved it,not sure i'd have the patience to do all that tho

Gracey - Do you notify them that people are cheating? It used to be easy for photo competitions to verity, because they could just ask for the negative. Now, no.

No, they aren't cheating - some of the competitions allow you to use others photos - some of them involve quite a number of parts of photos - I was talking about the photoshop contests rather than photography contests - I forgot the site has those too.

Usually the people using my free photos write and ask permission to use them, and send me a copy of their creation - some of them are great

Wow, cool effect! I never though of doing that - see we can be creating tons of cool images right out of our existing portfolios. Looking at the first page, I know exactly how the did that. It looks pretty simple enough to do, even without the tutorial - just by lookind at what they did. You can do some sick stuff with the selection tool. I'll have to remember that one the next time I get some free time.
