Default Whoooooo Hooooooooooooo!

I swear, I've been very discouraged with my own photography over the last week. I'm trying new techniques, and experimenting, but the results have been less than stellar. Made me think that anything I've ever gotten "right" was fluke-ish, and accidental...not that I was any good or even relatively competent. I've sold stuff before, most notably a $60 sale on a private basis, as well as at two other sites. But still, I have been discouraged and/or disgruntled recently about my capabilities in photography.

So imagine my surprise when I went to featurepics this morning and discovered I had a sale - from June 18. LOL, I hadn't realized it until I clicked over to the download page, and it was different from my most clicked page. ROFL!

And it wasn't one of the cheapest, either. 'Course, not one of the most expensive, too, but still...a $4 sale of a dolphin is nothing to be upset about. And it was quicker than other sites I've placed at, too.

So, whooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo for me... Gave me the courage to actually get back to work and try to get more repeatable results.

Thanks, featurepics. I'm encouraged now. I hope the trend continues, but this made my week. Erm, well, actually, my month.

That's the down side of trying new techniques and stretching yourself. The up side is that, in the end, you will have a larger knowledge bank and will have a better idea of what works and what doesn't.

I get discouraged too being new to this. If you are in this for the long term, then you just keep plugging. Eventually things will click.

Congrats on the sale.

I don't even need a sale to be all happy. All it took was one of my images featured in the gallery section on the home page. Thanks to whomever included my shot in the gallery (how does that happen anyway?), and to whomever selected it for the front page.

FF, we are experimenting as well. The result - we have lost a lot of pages in search engines recently. Or well...

Mswebb is right. Eventually things will click.

And someone bought the picture from the home page! So thanks again!

Round blue view is one of my favorites. Thank you, Elena.

Congrats on the sale.
I am plugging...sometimes I'm plugging the ego bleed, but I'm plugging. LOL.

I am not going to stop - I'm irish and taurus, so once I get a goal in mind, I tend to get it done. Sometimes it takes longer than others, and sometimes it takes learning in a whole new area from scratch, but I tend to get it done. Shoot, I only recently got the courage up to ask for releases when I'm shooting, so that's a big step forward! LOLOLOLOL!!!

And while I've trashed easily the last 400 shutter releases, I've also learned 500 ways to NOT do something. And that's important, too...

Thanks for the encouragement; makes me feel better that someone else knows what I'm going through...

Thanks for the encouragement, you all. Much appreciated (and someday, I'll have images on the front page, too! )

Best to all-

Another sale. And again, not one of my personal favorites, either. LOL! Know what? Me's happy... see?

(And that reminded me that I haven't uploaded this week at all...best get moving on that! LOLOL!)

Thanks again, all.

And it's going well again. #3 sold today. And again, not one I would've thought would sell, but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm clapping my hands and grinning.

I either need to just upload everything that I have (and that's about 100 more shots than I have up right now...with more to process...and maybe I need to figure out collections...) and forget about what sells, or become psychic. Guess which one I think would be easier? I kid you not - the three I've sold so far (in just over a month), none would've been the ones I would've predicted. Guess you just can't tell what a buyer is looking for until something sells.

Thanks, Elena and team!

Regards-
