Plus I've never had any one agency that had a problem with Adobe-embedded keywords.
My reason for using IrfanView is the Thumbnail (which I know is an unusual place to find this) Lossless Operations, CTL-A (select all) and then I add the data to a whole folder full of images. Things like Copyright <my name>, Object Name, Caption, Location data and date, even if it isn't all used by the micro sites, it's there. I also add the data that's common to the event to the keywords, Etc. one click and they all have the same data added.

Then I go back and add the drivers name to each individual photo in the keywords, caption and object name, which can also be done in smaller batches.

The batch IPTC data with IrfanView is useful for groups of similar photos for the same shoot. Even if you are just adding you name, date and locations, it's useful.

Yes I have CS3 and Lightroom, but I still use IrfanView for the batch feature.
