Back when Lucky Oliver first opened, it was the same way - and then they had to implement it into their site technology. I'm sure Snapvillage is aware of this by now...I hope. I'm definitely not re-keying all of my images just so I can upload to them.

Also because that would mean importing JPEG files into photoshop to re-save them as JPEG, possibly introducing artifacts. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I registered there, but I upload at the lowest priority. The upload process only allows 5 images at a time (and no FTP), so I only uploaded a few tens photos.
Comparing with Yaymicro, the latter has FTP and very easy upload process that allowed me to upload a couple hundred images painlessly (and there I stop for now until I see first sales).

For IS, you can use ImageManagerBasic free Windows software.

Excuse me for asking this, but isn't Metadata, just like a text file. It doesn't matter what software you use to edit it to a photo, it's the system that's reading it that causes the problems.
ps I use Irfanview and have had hit and miss reads on many sites. I changed to testing two other photo software packages to see if anything changed and got the same mixed results.
If you write the data and it's still there when you open the photos, it's going to be there when someone else reads it.
Keep in mind if you have metadata and edit a photo in any way, especially changing size or file type, it will often get truncated, removed or corrupted. Doesn't matter what you use, it's the changing of the file, and saving it, in it's altered state that causes the problems.
I'm pretty sure that it's the software reading the data, not the software used to write it, that causes the problems.

It depends. Like anything else in computing, there are revisions and implementations. Not all software packages use the same EXIF version/revision/fields.
Some agencies prefere Photoshop CS2/CS3 implementation, over irfanview, or even exifer. They are not the same at all.

I used to always use Irfanview, but then I realized why not just keyword in Bridge and Photoshop. I was already doing all of my worflow in those two apps, so why should I have to keep opening another app up and reopen my images just to keyword. Plus I've never had any one agency that had a problem with Adobe-embedded keywords.

Maybe it's changed in CS3 (I only have CS2) but when I try using Photoshop for keywording it strips out all but the first few words.

Yeah, I've found that the keywords are a lot less buggy in CS3. I still have problems with images keyworded in Bridge, but as long as I open them back up in Photoshop, make a change to the tags, and then resave - its bulletproof.

When entering keywords in CS2 you have to put a comma between them. I haven't uploaded in a couple months and must need retraining - I just messed up my new photos because of this. If you forget to use a comma or semi-colon, the sites only pick up the first few words.
Oddly though, IS picked up the no-comma keywords just fine.
