Default Alamy Novel Use - The Answer!

Just to stop one line of conjecture, I took the time to write and ask. Emphasis is mine.

From Alamy:

Please note that if someone hasn’t selected both the options (Opt in/Opt Out) it means they are not part of the Novel use Program. And also anyone who didn’t reply will not be a part of the program.

If you have opted for Novel use, you are included in the program and you have a two weeks time to opt out (If you wish to). And if your decision is not made within the specified time period of two weeks, then you will have the choice to opt out only in the next April 2009.

ps, I opted out. Everything there except one photo, is Editorial.

Nice to see that some sites have integrity and don't try to buffalo us into clauses and legal gibberish that gives them all the rights and contributors no choice.

Thanks for the info. I just opted out because I don't want my RM images to end up in blogs. I would have opted in if it was for RF only.

That's cool...they are giving everyone who signed the agreement way back a second chance to change their minds. Speaks volumes about Alamy as a company.

I'm opted in, although I'm not crazy about the RM images being a part of the program. However...I'm comfortable enough with the fact that the license is limited to non-commercial usage and small sizes to give it a shot with my RM images, which are mostly editorial anyway. If it doesn't work out, then I'll opt out in April.

I opted out, as lots of tiny sales might put buyers off spending large amounts on the RM photos. They only let us opt out because they were inundated with emails and forum posts. Contributors do have the power to change things.

I wish they let us opt in individual images. That is more likely to happen now as the novel use collection will of shrunk considerably with lots of us opting out. I don't mind opting in RF photos.

They should allow either "per image" or pseudonym specific enrollment. I opted out, no way my editorial is going this way.
