Default stockphotopro.com?

Just got an email from someone saying they were the co-founder of this site and that they wanted me to sign up.

Anyone heard of 'em?

I got the email too. Oddly enough I got it at my work address, which is completely unaffiliated with any of my stock work. So I'm thinking it's just random spam.

Ya, thats what im thinking.

Here is the email if anyone is curious.

Hello!

My name is Kinya Horikoshi at StockphotoPro in San Francisco, California.

I saw your images on the web and was impressed. We would love to represent your images on our site.

Stockphotopro is a portal site for RF stock images. We represent traditional stock agencies as well as individual photographers, and some midstock agencies. You can visit our web site at http://www.stockphotopro.com.

Before StockphotoPro I was the head of Photonica USA based in New York City for about 8 years and I have more than 10 years of experience in stock industry.

Please let me know you have any questions.

kinda makes me mad that they try to sucker you in and make you think your special when they probably sent this out to hundreds of other people.

Isn't that what advertising does?

In my country there is a TV ad for a spreadable chocolate paste, and they try to convince you that our national soccer team eats it for breakfast. Everyone with a working brain knows athletes can't have that fatty stuff. Still, they shamelessly go on with it.

That is quite a background she has! Photonica is now part of Gettys and was always known being an outstanding collection. I wouldn't throw this email so quickly away, that might be a mistake, and btw how do you think new sites should get people to sign up if not by contacting them? SY

I dont mind being emailed and informed about a new site. Its the part where they said they found my photos online and were impressed etc.

I might give them a shot anyway. Two sites I contributed to recently shut down (or in the process of shutting down) so I have a little extra time to spend on a new site.

This time I'll wait until they nose their way onto or near the top 6 list. These newbie sites take way too long to gain traction, if ever. I'd rather shoot more and speculate less.

I agree, I'm good for a while. I'll have to hear of mega sales before I join any more micros. I lost track of how many I'm even on anymore. 16? 17? Who knows.
