Default The WAKE UP thread

What's going on? Is it just me, or can I hear the crickets chirping in here lately...I could follow the forum if I checked back once a week - I used to have to check back daily.

Let's do something fun.

1. What's your first name? Todd
2. Tell us your stock name: thesupe87 or graficallyminded
3. What is your approximate portfolio size? 925
4. What is your main stock photo specialty: Illustrations and graphics, mostly backgrounds I guess
5. Who here is most likely to complain about their next rejection? Myself, most likely! The more I do this stuff though, the less you begin to care about rejections. What one site rejects, another 3 or 4 sites many times will accept.
6. How long have you been selling microstock imagery: About 2.5 years
7. Would you like to ever go full time? Heck yeah, as long as I could get it to the point where it pays all of my bills.
8. What was the last thing you ate? Baked stuffed shells and salad for dinner, then apple pie and ice cream for dessert

Copy and paste this, and then fill it in with your own answers.

I deserve the rejections I get, most of the time.

If it looked otherwise on the messages, I apologize for being a whiner.

What I'm commenting on most of the time is the inconsistency between agencies for refusal reasons, and how some sites will take photos that others refuse and visa versa. It's more of an amusing mystery than anything else.

Racing starts tomorrow, rain or snow. No worries about heat being a problem.

I'll bring back a new tag photo for the bottom of the messages.

Ok, I'll give it a go:

1. What's your first name? Mike
2. Tell us your stock name: helix7, mikemcd
3. What is your approximate portfolio size? 150
4. What is your main stock photo specialty: vectors (icons, graphics, general use graphic elements)
5. Who here is most likely to complain about their next rejection? Not me. Haven't complained in a forum that I can recall. At least not about rejections.
6. How long have you been selling microstock imagery: 11 months
7. Would you like to ever go full time? I plan on it. It's just a matter of how long it'll take me to get there. Plus I have this fear that I'll be perpetually stuck in the mindset that no matter how much I make, quitting my day job means a severe pay cut for a while until I can get my microstock earnings to compensate for the difference.
8. What was the last thing you ate? Cheeseburger and a pint.

1. What's your first name? Jane
2. Tell us your stock name: jmci

4. What is your main stock photo specialty? landscapes and isolated objects
5. Who here is most likely to complain about their next rejection? A newbie who hasn't done their homework to find out what stock agencies really want
6. How long have you been selling microstock imagery? Just over a year
7. Would you like to ever go full time? Nope - that would spoil the fun!
8. What was the last thing you ate? Chocolate cake

Yum yum... das lekker h?....:-) en een keer iets anders dan selder stoemp .. lol.. (referentie naar een reklame filmke over Iglo fishsticks dat nu op belgische zenders vertoond wordt...)

And indeed, "Stoemp" ... this is something specifically for the norhtsea countries region... in the past looked up for translation for "stoemp"... only thing i came up with is "mashed potatoes"... seems it is not very well known in the american region we here in Holland (The Netherlands) and belgium like to mash our pototoes with specific vegetables...:-)

Regards,

Patrick.
From Belgium for those who didn't already got this...:-)

I'll Play...

1. What's your first name? Deb
2. Tell us your stock name: debljames or nativelight
3. What is your approximate portfolio size? 323
4. What is your main stock photo specialty: No specialty. I'll try anything. Now that I think I have a handle on Photoshop I'm working on learning Illustrator.
5. Who here is most likely to complain about their next rejection? I used to take rejections personally. Now I just laugh (most of the time) and forget about it. Since I'm not exclusive anywhere, rejections are not really an issue.
6. How long have you been selling microstock imagery: 18 months
7. Would you like to ever go full time? Probably not. It sounds cool, but I'd have to work way too hard to match the pay of my "day" job.
8. What was the last thing you ate? Steak and portobello fajitas at a Chilis restaurant
