Smile Need a Photographer!

We are t rying to save some money on our wedding by hiring a cheaper photographer. Any ideas? Our wedding will take place in the Northwest WA.

Cheaper than what? Someone who knows what they're doing?

How about Uncle Bob?

You could be looking at the photos for many years, so I would make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing. I think wedding photographers deserve to be paid well. It is an easy job to do badly but takes a lot of technical and people skills to do well.

I used to work in a professional photo processing lab, so I have seen how bad some wedding photographers are. You might want to save some money now but I would cut back on other things before the photographer.

Idea: Rather than hire a newbie or someone who can't find anyone to pay them for their work, why not arrange for just the bride and groom plus parents to go to a real photographers studio for just a few good shots. Even tho it may be a week after the actual ceremony. Most of the beginners wedding "candid" shots I've seen at weddings IMHO are dreadful and are never seen after the first few weeks, if ever. What perseveres over the long term are the bride and groom's most formal "portraits" that are technically well done. Those in-studio shots should be much less than location shots.

If you must have a bunch of substandard photos at the event, hand out a bunch of disposables and collect them after everyone has had enough drinks to render hand-held shots impossible.

Forgot to add: Please don't ask a guest to be the photographer. They'll never enjoy the event with having to "work" and will resent all that responsibility you've dumped on them. And you'll be beholding to actually use the shots no matter how horrid.

Welcome to georgia portrait photographer

Very nice prices. Contact name is Susan Smith.
I'm using her for videography; it's only costing me $550.

She also does photography, too.

I'm a FT wedding photographer - what's your idea of "cheap" - b/cuz you can get "wow, this was McDonald's cheap!" and get junk or you can get "cheaper than Matt" and get something decent that you'll want to hold onto. Most photographers, no matter how full of themselves, don't fall into "SUPER cheap and amazingly awesome" at the same time.

No you aren't too cynical, I was just waiting for the response from their second ID.

Hey folks. This is SPAM! New user one posts the same messages all over in photo forums and the next day, someone else new, (not the honest people who are already members who respond to this SPAM) just happens past the forum and says... "I'm a photographer in your area."

Follow the link and you'll see that these people are spamming message boards trying to draw customers. This moves them up in the Google rankings by getting their link on more different systems.

Look for the "photographer wanted in Savannah" thread with the wrong state in the message text! The same people answered of course.

Wedding Photographer Needed in Savannah

Another one that showed up in a couple forums, they are eloping. (isn't that a trick? planning to elope and having a photographer?)

Wedding Photographer needed.

I don't know if the mods here can block a specific IP address, but I'd bet these all come from the same person. What would be nice, when someone has the time, is to go back and dump all these messages from this person, jason_iud AKA Lori and other names, so they can't benefit from abusing the forum.
