Depends on how serious you are about getting professional photos. Generally you get what you pay for, sometimes more, sometimes less.
Go to a local professional photo store and ask if they can recommend anyone. Sometimes there are people who shoot weddings who don't have the money and time to advertise in the yellow pages or newspaper. Agencies that do this, will pay hired guns to shoot your wedding and just do the bookings, so you don't know who you are getting. Many times people who work at photo stores, are also photographers. (OK more than sometimes... they have to pay the bills.)
If you want to have some fun, and get loads of interesting candid photos, plus some really strange ones, buy a case of disposable cameras, put them on the tables at the reception, or hand some out at the church and then more at the reception. Tell people that they should drop them in a box by the door when they leave. Then you take them all in, and get single 4x6 prints and have a laugh.
Some people will be serious, some will do really crazy things, but you'll really have a variety of photos as viewed by your guests.
ps Hire a real photographer too. You should be able to find friends who just got married, or people at work who know someone that just got married, and you can work off their experience and results.
Highest price isn't always the best and lowest price isn't always an indication that they are the worst. Get photographers names from someone who already hired them, not an agency that just books them and takes a cut.
