Default Average payoff per Photo

Maybe there are too many of these poll threads, but i thought of a way to do it which i think is more interesting.

You take:
the amount you make per month
divided by
the number of photos you have online.

This results in the average amount you make per photo. It seems a much more useful statistic than simply the amount made per month. I suppose this could be a measure of the quality of a portfolio.

Recently i've been averaging about 85 cents per photo over-all. Of course the earning power of my images is very unevenly distributed roughly 20% of the pictures bring in 80% of the money.

Difficult to vote because i have different amount of pictures on each site.... depends on what they take or reject.

I just voted based on my overall number of images, regardless of how many I have on any one site. If you have 1,000 images on one site, and less on all other sites, I'd still base the number on that 1,000 since that is around the total size of your portfolio. Even if just one site accepts a particular image, that image still earns some average amount of money per month.

Why the gap between 2.00 and 5.00? Can‘t be accurate because of that.

Well on the plus side, it looks like no one is getting an average of less than $0.25 per image. But on the downside, no one is getting more than $20. Still not bad results, with most people in the middle range. I was honestly expecting some low numbers.

I didn't answer the survey because of my "newness" and small portfolio size. I didn't think it was fair to respond when I have less than 100 photos on any one site, with 10 different RF sites. I can say that at SS I get 1.5 to 2 downloads per photo, per month. The next best site gets three total downloads per month.

When I have 100 photos average per site, for a few months, maybe I can then see something in the numbers.

I keep seeing messages and have since last year, where people estimate they get about $1 per photo, per month. I'd say that would be fine with me! All I need is 900 more photos?

Above is RF only, I consider direct sales, publications and RM a different market area.

Yeah, use the total size of your portfolio. The point is to find out how much $$ people are getting out of their average image. So if you have 1000 unique images, that's the number you use, weather they are all on one site, all on 20 sites, or scattered about various sites.

This measure is specifically devised to treat small and large portfolios equally. Of course you may reveal (or not) whatever info you choose, but fairness has nothing to do with it.

I have a rather small portfolio myself.

Good poll. I've been using this calcuations to set my own goals (new images to add based on average income per image) and work out how well I'm doing with microstock.
