The sales are nice though.
Don't be too concerned with the rank thing, if you look at your Alamy measures for any given image you'll probably see that most of your images come under 'view numbers' that end in odd digits i.e. 3644 etc, that means the potential buyer has see a number of pages containing all the images that come up under that keyword, if the number end's in 100's it means they only viewed a few pages as Alamy results are in pages of 100's. Buyers on Alamy tend to view the majority of search results when they're thinking of buying and a lot will add an image to a lightbox during a search, then after they've narrowed their selection down they'll go into their lightbox and zoom on the one's they like the best.

So in essence your ranking result may get your images on the first few pages but most serious buyers will see them no matter where they are, unless of course they've just searched the word 'landscape' !!!

Steve was right in what he said about only previous buyers zooms working, it actually only shows up for people who have opened a 'buyers account' and have previously purchased through this account, one off buyers who pay by credit card won't show up in your zoom results.

Mine have all been RF

Makes sense. Thanks for the feedback. And the zooms things makes sense also. Otherwise, we could manipulate our rankings- as shocking a concept as that may be ;-0

I have had about 300+ images on Alamy for about two months (a mix of RF and RM) and still no sales.

Im not too worried about it. The upload process is a pain, but they seem to be reviewing my stuff much faster now and havent rejected one photo yet so no complains.

Just uploaded two from a quick road trip. Reviewed (and accepted) under 24 hours. Keyworded and filled in all the boxes. Active in under 24 hours.

Alamy is looking more and more like a winner. Now I just need my first sale.

These are exclusive, licensed and large which makes them worth the effort. I don't think they reject based on content, unless it's horrible and irrelevant. The primary review is for quality and image standards.

Here's my little story.

A year and a half ago I'd uploaded 500 illustrations to Alamy. After a year I decided that after 20 squillion views and no sales, illustrations were obviously not their thing (despite being told by them again and again that it was photography based - sometimes I don't listen).

So, in frantic haste I deleted ALL my images except one - to see what would happen.

Well, it sold for £133 (DOUBLE that for u Americans) - I was swooning for weeks.

Moral of the story - I'm gonna start uploading again but be really careful about what I upload. They come across as an agency that sells kind of quirky different things - all my stuff was accepted first time round.

The guilt of all those reviewers reviewing the 500 illustrations still makes me blush!

How do you get this info? I have looked around but cant find anything telling how my sold photos are being used. Is this just for RM images?
