Default IS Increase

Not sure if a thread was started on this already. I saw a pop up when I logged on IS about the rates going up after Jan 7 (I think that was the date). I was trying to find out what that would mean for us non-exclusive folks. I couldn't seem to find what the rate increase would be per photo size and extended licenses. If you know what it is could you post it here or point me in the right direction.

thanks

Here's the announcement from the front page...

2008 Pricing and Extended License Adjustments

With a new year just around the corner, we have a few announcements to make regarding image pricing ? more With a new year just around the corner, we have a few announcements to make regarding image pricing here at iStockphoto.

First of all: we've made some adjustments to the extended license program. It's now much more streamlined, with fixed costs for the four different options. We hope this leads to a lot more downloads with Extended Licenses, as designers are able to meet the needs of any project at one rate.

And second, beginning January 7th, 2008, we will be adjusting the price structure for photographs, vector illustrations and flash files. We are always trying to provide the best service to our customers while offering the greatest possible rewards to our contributing artists. We feel this new pricing structure strikes the right balance between those two needs. Hey Karimala,

I did see this. But I am a little slow. What does that mean? I see what they are charging the client. What additional amounts are they giving the photographer per photo. I am sure It is all there I just don't get it.

As non-exclusives, we just get 20% commission. We will receive more per download but the amount of downloads will almost certainly go down, as this is a big increase.

I just found out that Crestock gives you a raise when you have 100 or more downloads.

Another reason to not be exclusive with one agency. At any time they can change pricing and other policies and affect your income.

To me price increase is good. Sorry for those buying for peanuts. I do not enjoy getting paid peanuts. When they pay cents, they get cents worth photos.

So again, I ask: Why are you here? Why sell at SS for $0.30 per download? Why sell at istock where you'll still just get $0.20 per dollar sold?

Not for the money they give me, of course. This is just modern slavery. It is fun only as a hobby. My heart cries when I see people in need of money that do it because they have read success stories.
