Default Is DreamsTime turning into Snapshot Central?

It appers DreamsTime is turning into snapshot central.
I checked out the portfolio of one of the new reviewers. Although there are some very fine images, the bulk is mostly snapshot material.
I also checked out the portfolio of one of the more frequent forum poster. Same thing, there are some fine images but the bulk is mostly snapshot material.

Art directors, designers and the like will run scared when they see snapshots.
Very frightening. I this the direction Microstock is heading??

Wow, there is some really lame stuff among the new images. Not just snapshots, but some pretty worthless illustrations.

I rather doubt this indicates the downfall of the whole industry.

You should have checked mine for some real fun. I take them with a Kodak C613 point and shoot camera.

Although I do not think there is such a thing as the perfect portfolio.

I would have to agree with you 100% - there is no such thing as a perfect portfolio. The day someone thinks thier portfolio is perfect is the day they have given up - or should give up.

I think some very fine products can be produced from a point and shoot IF and ONLY IF the photographer does away with the snapshot mentality.
On the inverse, some of the snapshot images I have commented on above were produced with a Nikon D2x. Absolute proof that regardless of the equipment - the photgrapher can make - or as on DreamsTime- break the image.

The thing that bothers me is I am almost embarassed that some of these snpashots come from a new reviewer!!

It has its benefits being exclusive.

Patrick.

Being exclusive should not be a permit to submit snapshots.

BTW, I was joking. Just in case it was not that obvious. :-)

Indeed obvious - but you did bring up a good point with the P&S that I did need to clarify. And I thank you for the prompt. :-D

I'm not an equipment snob - but I cannot tolerate snapshots.
Even worse I cannot tolerate snapshots from new reviewers with good equipment.

Hi DarkMan,

Yes, I noticed the same thing, but I don't think a few sub-par images warrant any concerns of the entire site turning into anything. If even 10% of all images on the site are snapshots, it won't make any significant difference to a buyer. I know some reviewers are tougher than others, and on the big scale of things I find nothing to worry about.
