Default The PhotoShelter Collection

This looks interesting - I remember hearing something about this in the Chase Jarvis vid posted not long ago. They are going for the amateurs as well as the pro.

I have not used photoshelter but I have heard good things about it.

Quote from press release on the 15th of nov. "PhotoShelter is pleased to announce that it has begun transacting image sales on The PhotoShelter Collection, the first online marketplace to provide the benefits of a commercial agency and a wholly transparent sales system to pro, amateur and hobbyist photographers alike."

I was able to get only 13 images uploaded and accepted before the opening date which (if they ever sell) will earn me 85% commission. Images uploaded now earn the photographer 70% and you can set your images as RF or RM and you choose your pricing (nothing below $50 though).

I really like the professional look and feel of the site and the concept behind it. I feel "midstock" is a very viable balance between micro and traditional stock. I don't expect to see sales for some time and I know I need to upload a lot more, but I'm definitely keeping my fingers and toes crossed for this one.

I have been uploading there. It is a nice site but the upload is a bit like istock. I wonder if people will upload their microstock photos there? I am trying to keep them separate but it will take me a long time to build a big portfolio.

Fabulous! Another upstart on which to waste a lot of time. My fingers are getting mighty sore crossing them for the likes of Lucky Oliver, Snap Village, and the like.
I'll pass on this one until it's got some legs...and a lot more positive comments.

I'm not uploading any micro stuff on PSC. I've uploaded some stuff I thought was better than micro and I've set them to RM only. I've never dealt with RM so this is an experiment for me. I've read a lot of arguments for and against RF (not necessarily micro). I don't know which side I agree with, but I'm going to give RM a try for now.

I have 216 live. They have a million dollar budget for advertising over the next year and a lot of Alamy contributers are moving their collections over. Should be a good agency once they get their feet on the ground.

It is going to be a good place, a lot of Alamy's top contributors are seeking an american outlet, with more presence in the US and with editing, so this has been very welcome. It is not a micro site.

. It's not a new startup - they have been around since 2005. They are just changing their business model to allow more photographers to sell there. It's "The photoshelter collection" thats new.
