Default BigStock price increases....

As announced a couple months ago, credit prices per image have changed.

We now offer up to 4 image sizes:
Small: 900x675 px = 1 credit
Medium: 1600x1200 px = 2 credits
Large: 2800x1800 px = 4 credits
Extra large: 3800x2900 px and larger = 6 credits

Image sizes vary somewhat based on their original sizes, some being as small as 600px and other being as large as 5000px.

Our prices have been considerably under market rates for over a year, and we are still the lowest cost provider of high quality stock images. Our small images are up 200% the size of what our competitors offer, and our largest images are 40% cheaper than what our competitors offer for the same size images.

Users who do not need high end large images can still download for the same prices as before - 1 or 2 credits for small and medium images.

These are more than you will need for most purposes. If you are doing higher end print or large scale print, you will need the 4 or 6 credit large or extra large images usually.

Special Licenses and Special License pricing will not be affected by this change at all.

Thank you very much to all BigStockPhoto users for your understanding and patronage. We sincerely regret any increase but it will allow us to keep pace with our ability to provide you the best possible images and services.

For Photographers and Artists:
-----------------------------------
Photographers and artists still receive 50 cents per credit spent. We have not raised or lowered credit prices, only the number of credits that images cost.

Since the average credit cost per image will rise, so should your commissions.

BigStockPhoto still pays from 20% to 50% commission on each sale, depending on what the user paid for their credits, which is among the highest industry payouts.

Thanks again to all contributors for growing with us, we sincerely appreciate it.

It seems that photographers could see commission increases of 50% to 100% depending on the individual sale.

Very good news. All microstock images are massively underpriced.
