Default Questions about Alamy

I am signing up with alamy after reading about it here: WANNA MAKE MORE MONEY? ALAMY ROCKS!

I had a couple questions and couldn't find the answers in previous posts. What can you tell me about signing up for Novel use sales? Also, how about distribution in all territories? Are these worth it? What are the drawbacks?

Thanks for your help.

Derek

Believe it or not nobody knows much about Novel use yet, Alamy haven't really given a true definition other than the one you've probably already read about.

As far as distribution sales, I'd estimate that half all my sales there come through distribution sales, the commission is slightly less, it takes longer for the sale to clear (you don't get paid until the sale has cleared through Alamy) and I've heard some people have had problems with getting payouts, although (touch wood) that's never happened to me.

Also remember that Alamy won't pay you until you've got $250 cleared in your account, thens it's at the end of the following month.

Long term it's worth it though, good luck.

The best thing would be to hold on to getting into the Novel Use until someone makes a sale and we all get a glimpse of what it is all about.

Distribution schemes are very tricky. If you read the AlamyPro forum at Yahoo you will see that experiences vary from very good (someone even states a 700 dollars sale) to terrible (someone got his image bought by a Russian company that tanked). So, you can give it a go, since money is money in the end.

Thanks. I was just accepted today. I think I'll give the novel use thing a try and I'll try to keep everyone posted.

I did choose novel use too. Did not see any particular reasons not to, at the time. So far no bad news.
