Default Moneybookers Fees

Does anyone use Moneybookers for stock photo earnings?

When I made my first withdrawal, Moneybookers only allowed the initial transaction to be US$20. Its service charge was about $2.50. However, when the money was transferred to my bank, after the wire transfer fee of $10, I was left with $7.50 out of $20.

When I made my second withdrawal, I decided to ask for a check. Moneybookers charged me over $5 for issuing the check, but I thought I could at least save on the wire transfer fee. When I received the money, the check was $20 short. I don't know why. I assume it might be the fee for the check issuing bank, but Moneybookers has never ever advised me that it could not issue a check directly and there would be a fee from an issuing bank.

Any comments and suggestions?

Why don't you get in contact with them and ask them what the fees are for? I haven't ever been charged a fee like that. I think it is £1.20 for me to withdraw to my bank. I make more than using paypal.

Yes, I have written to them. However, I suspect they will say it was the fee from the check issuing bank. The problem is lack of disclosure so I was never aware of it.

Did you mean Paypal charged less?

Paypal pay me less because they give me less GBP when I convert USD. Paypal don't charge a fee for withdrawals but I get more money when I use moneybookers.

I assume you are from UK so wonder if they charge you less because of your location.

Since US$ are depreciating, perhaps Paypal fee will be smaller in comparison. But I don't know how much Paypal will charge or if it will charge at all.

You probably need to verify your account. With moneybookers I verified my account to have the limit for withdrawl raised to $5,000 (i think that's what it was) - it cost me $5 to have a verification done, and generally I have a cheque made up and sent to me every two months to make my withdrawl from them. That costs me $5. I don't have money sent directly to my account so I've no idea about the fees for that.

I haven't had any problems with them since I started using them (um, almost a year ago I think) and I found the fees to be manageable - if I ask for a cheque of $200 or $300 and leave a little in my account they take the $5.

I might add that to-date they have extremely good at answering any questions I've sent them by email - very friendly and reasonably timely.

Hi Gracey,

The initial $20 was for the purpose of varifying my bank account, so that was done. After I ask to be paid by cheque, they also varified my address, there was no fee for that.

When I received the cheque, it was simply $20 short. There was never an explanation to it. When I checked on my Moneybookers transaction records, there is no indication that there would be a $20 fee. So I paid $25 to get around $200.

I hope they will explain the fee soon.

Default Moneybookers Response

OMG, I got the response from Moneybookers, they completely deny responsibility for the shortage of money! They ask me to contact my bank, but my bank has nothing to do with it. I got a check which is $20 less than what I am supposed to receive, before my bank even know there is a check issued to me.

I can't even reply to that email. The only way is to file a new complaint.

They did the same to me last time... I assumed it was the bank, but it wasn't... They are robbing us and there is no way around it.
