Default A Yelp for HELP

After all this time using a basic html coder to write my website I?ve gone backward in time?back to using FrontPage. Not the best solution I guess, but right now I need simplicity, and the ability to run updates quickly.

The problem I?ve got is with my galleries and I CANNOT figure out what?s causing it.
Other images on my site show up fine. In some galleries a few images show up and others don?t. It?s not the gallery ? it runs fine, I just can?t get the images to load on the net. I don?t understand it.

I?d be thrilled to get some ideas from anyone right now. Tearin? my hair out at the moment!
The site is loaded, but not 100% complete: I?ve still got to go back into FrontPage and put alt/text on all the imagery, so there?s going to be another update, but I might as well figure out the gallery problem and do it at the same time.

These are the same gallery styles I?ve used for quite a while now with no problems at all.

After about an hour I've got the Featured Photographers gallery working (under Photographers), but I can't get my own galleries to run even using the same steps.

Any ideas?

New Site Update

(No critiques please - I know I'm not a web designer, but I need to get this working first)

Hi Gracey, first of all which browser do you use to see your web site? SY
edit: I can see your problem, I get the landing page, but the table (where the gallery links should be is empty?) Check if you have really uploaded all files to your server! I am by no means a web designer but to me it seems that you have uploaded the style sheet but some of the content is missing. Does that makes sense to you? SY

Gracey, I see the pages like Fine Art Prints, is using fairly straightforward html, whereas the pages under the Galleries is using a flash plugin. I don't know a thing about flash, never liked it. Don't know if this helps - maybe a flash guru out there.

Thanks guys. All the files are loaded on the server. First thing I checked.

I am using IE right now (installed a new HD and haven't downloaded firefox again) so there shouldn't be any issues with the browser.

The one gallery works fine (Featured Photographer's under Photographer's in the menu) - I reloaded that one directly from the gallery program to see if that was it. It showed up fine, so I did the same with two of the others - nope. Still don't work.

I'm thinking it might be the nesting - the featured photographer gallery has an address like host/galleries/featuredphotographers/index.html and the others go host/galleries/georgia/travel/index.html. Might be that FrontPage doesn't like the extra nesting. I couldn't check out that theory last night cause we had a storm and power blew out so I finally just gave up and went to bed.

I'll try again today after I make the rounds and check my mail.

EDIT: WHOOOOHOOOO...I un-nested the gallery files and voila - they work! Yay...'course now I have to looking for a decent wig cause I'm BALD

Hi Gracey,

You should set yourself up a test server on your own PC.

I run apache webserver because i use PHP, but IIS that comes with xp pro is pretty good as a test environment. - Its takes the stress out of changing sites because they are not live!

Site is looking nice by the way!

Thanks Doug. I don't use WinXP - but Win2000 Pro. I don't quite understand how to set up the server software. Win has one that works with 2000, and I've got a small one that will run from a floppy disk - imagine that? (comes with "floppy office")

Hi Gracey

I use Firefox and have just viewed your galleries - they all work both thumbnail and full images. Take a while to load but they are there.

Thanks Christine - nice to know they work on firefox as well. I always worry about non-conforming bits when I do my website.

I still need to go through the site and add alt-text to all the image files, but I had to get the site up. Been working on the remodel for over a week and I needed it for a reference for someone.
