This month may be slow - 4 weekend days so far (out of 13), 1 American Holiday (Labor Day) then, for our Jewish friends, you have Rosh Hashanah on the 12th, Yom Kippur on the 21st, and Succos on the 26th and the 27th. For our Islamic Friends, Ramadan starts on the 13th and runs through October 12th. For our Mexican friends, September 16th marks Independence Day.

It's a wonder anything ever gets done in September

Ah...that explains why B&H Photo is closed through Saturday!

Often the stats on iStock are off. For example today the "last downloads" page shows four, yet the stats page shows 11 downloads and about the right revenue for 11 downloads.
Hopefully there's just a lag in the postings to the "last downloads" page.

Same here...

There have been several downtime periods in the last couple of weeks. They'll make it right somewhere in the process ;-)

Default iStock statistics not refreshing

For the last couple of days, when iStock made a sale, the $$ changed, but not the number of downloads, it stuck at the same figure.

Anyone else experincing the same ??

Yes, I notice the same thing. As long as they are making sales and keeping track of the DLs, I can wait a few days for all the records to be updated. :-D

I have put an update I read on another site below. My sales have been down the last two days but have increased on other sites. Part of me wants downloaders to move to Stockxpert as the site has less problems, I get 50% commission instead of just 20% from istock and they have a big upload limit.

--------------------------------------

"So here"s the deal. [keep in mind this is a simplified explanation of a really complex problem]

The problems we fixed last week had to do with throughput. When those bottlenecks were fixed, it increased the load on the servers by a truly significant amount (average load was higher than our highest peaks--ever). Which is fine. That much more traffic means lots more sales.

Unfortunately we hit a snag along the way. We ran up against a known bug in mySQL 5 (which is what the site runs on). We simply can"t process any more transactions per second. Yeah, it"s a good problem to have. There is a fix in the next version of mySQL, but it"s in beta and a long way from being production-ready (and no, adding more machines doesn"t help in this case).

So our developers have been coding around the problem. It"s slow and meticulous work. Kinda like changing the fan belt on a car doing 60 on the freeway.

We turned off stats because they were hitting the servers especially hard, and aggravating the bug. We"re running the script to update your graphs every afternoon. It takes about 3 hours to run, but in the mean time, your number of downloads and cash balance is always up to date. There is code in place that should allow us to turn it back on--we"ll know if it"s ready to go by late Monday.

Hope that clears things up a bit. Thanks for hanging in there."

Admin note: Merge of "Notice anything strange with your DL @ IS" and " iStock statistics not refreshing"
