I just read through the Lucky Oliver thread and was "surprised" at some of the comments that were made...

I am a believer in speaking your mind, but when the personal insults started flying around It had gone to far.

not very productive eiether...

Laurin, he's referring to the thread here at TM that started off being about LO review times and disintegrated into a mud slinging fest. Ya know...the one I locked up.

Hate for someone is an amazing thing, just because they have an opinion that differs from theirs. I for one love and admire people with opinions, Thats a great learning tool.But the minute it starts to get personal, It will always get ugly very soon. I've started many,Many threads knowing full well the answer just to start a discussion to encourage thought. Sometimes it works well and we all get to learn something and sometimes not. When the day comes when we all can't discuss issues that affect us about this industry and question authority then were finished Im afraid.

I soon learned to look at threads Laurin started and think "what is he getting at/what does he want" as it is not always as it seems on the surface :-) I do something similar on my own (non-photographic) forum and often learn a lot from it myself - especially about the personalities involved !! :-)
