Default SR-EL (sell rights) sales... Anyone get them?

Dreamstime offers the option to set a price and offer a "SR-EL" or Sell Rights license option. Maybe other sites do the same.. not sure.

I'm just wondering two things:

1. Does anyone ever get these sales?

2. What prices do you usually set?

Hi Mike,

I know someone who sold one of those licenses for $800 at DT.
I have them at that price as well. If someone is interested in a photo of this type they will really have to dig into their wallets. Photos in microstock generate quite a lot of income per photo after a few months. I am sure you know that having such good illustrations.
If someone is really interested in that photo they will pay.

Does this mean after you make such a sale, you have to remove that image from your Dreamstime portfoilo only, or from every stock site?

The way I read it is that once you sell the rights that image is theirs and can't be sold or used anywhere else.

It seems like a nice feature, and I wouldn't mind selling rights to an image for a few hundred dollars. It just seems like a long-shot that it would ever happen. I set a few images at $500, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a sale.

hehe me neither.

And answering the questions above. Yes you have to delete it from every other site not only DT.

I got a message from FT a couple weeks ago with a request from a customer to buy 3 of my photos. I told them I would be willing to change the listing on FT to allow the buyout for a week and if they didn't buy it I would change it back. I also told them it was listed on several other sites and if they bought the photos it would take we a few days to remove the photos from the other sites............ Well a few days later they bought all three photos. I may have set the price too low, but they weren't photos that were burning up the most popular charts...so $200 each seemed like a fair price. $400 in my pocket. I found out later that it was an Insurance company that was buying them for their "Last Will and Testament division"....so I'm sure they would have paid more...but hey...I'm happy with what I got...pretty simple photos for $400. You can always play the "what if game" but the bottom line is ...what is the photo worth to you???
