Default Deviant Art

Did a search of the forums but couldn't find anything relevant. I'm just wondering if any of you experienced people are members at deviantart.com?

What sites would you recommend for sellings prints of your images? Preferably somewhere where you can publish your images and then the site handles the printing.

Thanks for your help!

Paul

I've been looking for this sort of thing myself. Haven't found anything that I would recommend. I think the conclusion I've drawn/read is that if you want to sell prints, you need to drive customers to your photos. (on your website or a hosted one)

Another words, I don't think there is a artprints.com that you can dump print type photos to and that customers will search for, find and then buy. The artprints.com would then handle the printing and sending.

I'd love to be proved wrong though.

I have a deviantart account, but never got around to actually uploading some of my work to it...ugh I wish I had more time. It's an easy way to make up an online portfolio for free, without making an entire portfolio site. I don't think it's a site for selling your work. You never know, someone might see something they really like of yours, and contact you. That's happened to me once or twice just from having the portfolios up on the micro sites.

Deviantart is almost like myspace for art-freaks (designers, illustrators, artists & photographers)

Check out Photo Gateway Launch. It's a cross between a stock type site and a claearing house for prints. After searching for an image, the user can print images up to a certain size on a home printer or order larger prints to be shipped.

Buyers pay a membership fee for access and sellers get a payout based on the number of prints. Images can also be purchased similarly to a stock site.

I have a few images up there but haven't sold any yet. I don't know how they calculate the print value as I have had a couple prints made from my photos but haven't seen it reflected in my account. Still working on that.

Good luck.

I know this would be a major stretch for some of us, but I know there are a lot of pros out there that could meet the requirements, so what about Webshots?

Here's the link:
Webshots - Photo Submission Guidelines

They sell posters, t-shirts, mugs, etc., etc. I can't find the payment scale on their website, but it does say to email them about it.

I use SmugMug to host my website. It offers printing capabilities right through my site, and my clients can go to my site and order prints from our sessions. SmugMug handles everything. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
