Post Let?s work on a general model release

Hi all,
still being pretty new to stockphotography I have - as most of you - experienced that it is a pain to prepare all the model releases for different agencies.

I have read that Gracey started a thread, but it didn?t get too much attention.

What about working together on a model release for all agencies. We could gather information (where occurred which specific problem - how can it be solved) here in this thread.

Building up on Graceys release (hopefully you don?t mind), I produced an "interactive" pdf-form. The advantage is, that you can fill in the fields on your PC and print them out afterwards.
Just for your info: only users of Adobe Acrobat Professional can save their changes in the fields on their computer. Adobe Reader can?t save the entries in the form, only print it. But you can save a copy of the empty form on your harddisk for repeated use.

The "print form" button will not be printed, it is only visible on the screen.

Here is the PDF for download: releaseForm

Users of Acrobat Professional are welcome to make changes in the form and post their improved versions. Other users are welcome to post their suggestions, so that I can apply the changes.

I hope we can get something together here.

all the best,
Wolfgang

Wolfgang,

Good idea but I use my own and don't have any problems with it.

A couple of suggestion for yours:

1. You must have a space for the models phone number/ email address, some agencies won't accept a release without those details.
2. If the model is Under 18 you need a space for the parent/guardian to put their details.

A lot of people I know have just copied the release from iStock and amended it for their own purposes, one thing to remember is that there should be a statement in there along the lines of "this release is and will be governed by the laws of England (or whatever country you're based in), excluding the law of conflicts."

Good idea though for someone starting out.

I use my own too - usually has my letterhead on it; so far it hasn't been rejected anywhere.

It's a good idea though - a completed "general release" could be posted in the other forum for people to download if they need one.

Hi you two, and thanks for the info and ideas - I have allready added them to the file (it now looks completely different - being a mixture of both, graceys and istocks image release). Since istock has a copyright on theirs, I?d rather not copy it.

One main advantage of the file is (as stated) - you can fill it in on the PC (using Adobes Acrobat and the tab-key), and only have to sign it afterwards.

I would be glad if you (and others) could take another look to make it the best possible solution (especially since english is not my mother tongue). Anything more you would add/delete?
