Default Film shooters?

Hello all!
This is my first post....

Want to know...
Is anyone *else* here shooting w/ film (rather than digital)?

I'm looking for a more economical way of scanning those images...

Some say...don't bother unless you can use a drum scanner and others say that they use certain Canon and Epson scanners (those scanners are costly)...and some say that you *can* do it, if you use ICE (some of the aforementioned scanners do)...

I sincerely appreicate any/all insight given!

Ginae

Welcome! Nice to have you here with us

Too much work for me. I just got a $200 Canon digital Point and Shoot - I'm just an amateur, but I would never want to convert film to digital.

Thanks for the reply Supe!
The thing is, though...I've been shooting for a little over a year and I have had TONS of images rejected for chromatic abbertations, etc. I mean, I can surely grow as a photographer, but...I REALLY think that I would stink much LESS if I could get better equipment, so I bought a Canon Rebel (film)..
TO ...scan...
I appreciate your input!

awesome! Yeah, I did notice that regular file SLR's are a lot cheaper than digital...you can save so much money. I've never tried scanning negatives - my flatbed has some kind of holder thingy where you slide the negative in, but I never messed with it.

Well, the scanner type is very important, from what I understand.

The dude at the local camera joint tried to talk me into a 700.00 Pentax digital and it was beautiful - but - I want to be able to have huge prints - I'm even thinking about buying a medium format camera...?

Not to mention, the TIME spent in scanning images/photoshopping them/sticking them some place (that's NOT on my movies-rich hard drive)! Darn that limewire.com!

dust can be irritating when you're scannning on a flatbed. Airbrushing dust off can take forever in photoshop. You have to reaaaaaly make sure you're got a clean scanner and slide.

Do you develop them yourself? If not some developers will put them on a CD for you at the same time as developing but I have no idea what size, quality or format

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about that. That could get expensive, though - after a while.

BTW Supe = your location - you would have to get past my Dobes to rummage in my fridge - they never get anything from it but always arrive when it opens.

Some developers charge only a little more to add a CD at the time of deveoping
