Question Intro & Workflow software question

Hi, I am new to this site. My Wife and I owned and operated a portrait studio in the Lancaster, PA area for 15 years. I had to close in 2005 after 3 back and 1 neck surgeries. I want to get into stock to keep up my chops, hopefully bring in some mad money, and keep my sanity. I'm looking for suggestion as to intake software. I work on the PC and Shoot with a Fuji S2 and a Canon G10. I shoot Raw + Jpg. In my studio days I brought the images in using ACDsee or Irfanview and edited them in Photoshop CS. CS is the latest version I have. I need software for image intake, sorting and keywording. Would I be better off buying something like ACDsee Pro or Adobe Lightroom for that purpose, or some other program that's better. I look forward to your input. Thanks, Dave

I just use photoshop elements 7 for editing and irfanview for the keywords. Microsoft photo tools is another good free program for keywording. I have seen people recommending lightroom and I might get it one day but I prefer spending money on cameras and lenses.

Pretty much the same. I do have Lightroom and haven't learned it. Be aware that irfanview has some non-standard way of imbedding IPTC data and some sites don't recognize it.

But the Elements 7 is just fine for standard photos and no trick layers or complex editing. It's very reasonable photo editing software.

Lightroom has a nice, very nice, load and thumbnails viewer where you can look at an entire shoot in pages, which I may start using more, just for finding things.

Thanks for the replies. I look forward to others. I was a little surprised at what appears to be little activity on this board, so I'm thrilled for quick replies. I haven't tried Irfanview in about 5 years, so I'll have to try the latest version. I was unaware it allowed for keywords. Thanks, Dave

Personally i couldn'd recommend lightroom enough. Ive been using it for about a year now and cannot imagine how i worked without it. Its really easy to set up and once you get your processes sorted it can save loads of time... I cannot compair it to other software as it's the only one ive used!
