Default Canon EOS 30D and 2 lenses deal - is this a good deal?

I got a call from a relative. He wants to sell his 30d, his 17-85 or whatever IS lens and his 70-300 lens, and 4gb mem card - everything for $1000

Sound like a good deal? Any takers?

He only used the thing a handful of times, and decided he shouldn't have spent so much money on everything, for the amount that he shoots.

I'd definitely do it, but these things cost a hell of a lot more here in Norway. Have no idea how it all works out in comparison to US prices on the new stuff though...

Yes, details sent in private mail.

17-85 is probably the EF-S and the 70-300 is a USM, no IS. Package deal that appears on eBay all the time. Price sounds very reasonable.

Yep, there is a Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer USM Autofocus Lens:

Canon | 70-300mm f/4-5.6 EF IS USM Autofocus Lens | 0345B002

Sounds like a good deal to me.

So you know which lens is with this camera?

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM - $1,165.58
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM - $594.50
OR the kit lens they include on the eBay auctions
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM - $197.00

There's a huge difference!

ps the one with this camera is the III, I talked to the guy selling it.

I have a standing "I'll buy it" in with his cousin. I told him, he should try to get more locally and if that doesn't work, it's sold. I didn't want to take advantage of the guy. That way he's got a buyer to fall back on, if it doesn't work out.
