Default Start up Lighting

Hi all. I'm looking at getting my first lighting setup for indoor work. I don't need anything fancy and I couldn't afford it even if I wanted. Basically my budget is 0, but my trusty little credit card says I can spend about $300. My goal is to do some isolation shots and hopefully move up to basic portraits. I really think continuous lighting is the way for me to go, but I'm not really sure. I was looking at this setup:

I would appreciate any hints/tips/comments/advice on both the above link and this subject in general.

Thanks,
Shannon

Take a look at ebay and my recent post on the light tent, here.

I brought a 300 kit which includes three strobes, two at 120v with continous light and strobe, the third is a plain strobe at 40 watts. It comes with two softlight tents and one barndoor with gels and a honeycomb, and three stands for the lights.

Additional items were wire kit for lights, and a wireless kit for wire free shooting!

I also got a gold/silver reflector.

I dont know a lot and I am learning but like you I have been looking for a cheap alternative to experiment. I was given some infor on lighting and setup the cheap way and I have put it on my website site below, look under "Stock Photos elearning".

http://www.freewebs.com/mygardenofeden/

Have not got it yet, but I have decided to just go to local store and get the table lamps and lights and experiment as suggested by many people. Its a cheap option to experiment. They suggest doing that and then when you are better, to go for the better lighting eg Alien Bees.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. Ok, so for now, I'll continue to work on the cheap lighting setup I have and see if I can figure things out. Practice makes perfect I guess

Thanks again.
