About five years, I sell all kinds of images and it's hard to say what sells and what doesn't, I don't do a lot of editorial stuff but I've heard that sells well, also travel and scenic images are good sellers, so go out and shoot your location or one nearby.
There's a lot of crap on Alamy so anything decent stands a good chance of selling, my best advice is don't keyword images the same way you would on microsites, stick to the basics as the search engine will penalise you for , do put in Latin names of any flora/fauna and english/American spelling variations.
Other than that sit back and wait, watch your AlamyMeasures (and you'll see what I mean about the keywords) and sales will come.
Good luck
