Default Digital photo prints...

Where do YOU order your digital prints from online? I'm getting fed up with Winkflash and am shopping around for a place that's reasonably priced with good quality prints.

Thanks!

Unless you find someplace usual, you are going to get the same equipment at Winkflash that you find at Walgreens, Osco, Walmart, (pick a name) and most of the online printing services.

All of them use Fuji Frontier digital printers which print the digital files on conventional photo paper using red, green and blue lasers. These are "photographic prints" and so should last as long as prints from film do.

There are some that don't, but the point is, if you think there's a big difference between stores and online, you are kidding yourself.

Unless it's something special, I upload to Walgreens and pick them up in an hour. The two closest Walgreens don't seem to keep up the equipment as well as one that four miles away. Same equipment as Costco, and others stores, but the one I use, seems to produce better reuslts. The point is, you need to see what's near you and who does a better job.

Smugmug, one of the best: We print on Fuji Frontier systems, we print on Polielettronica LaserLab printers, and our largest format stuff gets printed on Durst Lambdas. These are lab-quality, photo-quality printers that typically will offer prints in three different types of resolution: The Frontier is 302 dpi, the Polielettronicas are 254, and the Durst Lambdas are 200 dpi.

Snapfish doesn't say, except they use the highest quality equipment, they are owned by HP. If you order online from Walmart, People's, Walgreens, and many other big chains, having the photos shipped to you, they are coming from Snapfish.

Some places still use Kodak equipment and Adorama prints on Kodak paper. CVS was using Kodak machines.

The photos you get online are likely to be more alike than different. Printed at the same places, on the same equipment. Fuji Frontier machines go up to 12x18.

For larger prints, Calypso Calypso Imaging: digital giclee, Lightjet, mural, fine art printing and scanning company prints up to 50 x50 sheets. Information is mixed on how big they can go for a single photo image.

Off topic, but...

Here's a place that always caught my attention, and hopefully some day I'll need their services. Big Prints USA. (says it all doesn't it?) BIG PRINTS USA Digital Photo Enlargements From 8X10 to 44 x 72 inches. You can print your own banner designs on Tyvek 2' x 6'. Or you want a panorama? Up to 2 feet x 7 feet on paper?

Default Troll Alert

Some days I feel angry when I take the time to answer what appears to be an honest question, do the research and find out that it was just a team SPAM!

I wish there was a way to block anyone from posting a new thread, until they have at least answered five message or something.

I suppose the answer is just be rude and don't ever respond to anyone new, who posts a question, until after their partner in SPAM gets a chance to respond with the link that they are promoting.

They won't see this, because these two won't ever come back here, until they want to spam the forums again.

I won't write what I really think of these people.

I will not write it either, although two of the graphic studios I work for, run high end wide plotters capable of printing over 2 metres wide on rolls, so you could print as wide (or tall) as you like. They can even print on canvas.

I usually print my own, but sometimes it's nice to try other options. I live in a fairly rural area, so haven't really bothered to try anyone local. I may give them a try. I may try Calypso for a special project.

I'm sorry the op was a spammer, but please don't think your post was a waste of time.
