Default Thanksgiving Vacation Snapshots

If you call being with the family for a week a vacation. Some do?

These are really snapshots. I don't have much choice about when I'm going to be out on tour, or where. Great time, having a ball. Sorry for the heavy shadows in some of these.

Minimal equipment, one lens on the 40D, 28-135 (not the sharpest lens in the bag, but nice size for travel) one G6 (could have left it at home) one A400 for the pocket.

One page gallery, using One Page Php Gallery.

Trippin to Flippin

OnePagePhpGallery FREE script written by Robert Watcher.
For those who like minimal, it works perfectly, and requires no coding experience (except putting you name into the form, event and date), no Java, no plugins... and is viewer friendly and fast!

Yup, near Bull Shoals, South of Springfield MO 60 miles? But you can't go straight South because of mountains and rivers, so it's much further. It's the Ozarks, pretty and nice peaceful countryside. Friendly people.

11 hour drive, straight through, from home. (I did stop for gas and two quick rest stops of course!)

11 hours...that's about the longest I've ever driven, and it was only dude to us getting lost at one point. It should have been a 9 hour drive I think we were headed down to Maryland or something. You definitely do notice how friendly people are in the more country areas. I hate how snobby people are where I live, you could be passed out on the street and they'd just walk by. Recently that did happen - a guy got hit by a car, and most people just kept on going about their daily business. How sad is that?

12 hours coming back but I stopped for gas twice and took an hour to walk up to the top of The Monks Mound at Cahokia. Overcast, gloomy, late afternoon. Nothing usable as far as the scenic photos I imagined. Nice to see the place again after almost 20 years.

Took a 360 panorama anyway and St. Louis skyline. Blah.

Ran a webcam on the dashboard for the whole trip, one shot every 15 seconds, but had the frame rate too fast. I'll have to find some editor (free of course) and see if I can rescue that.

On the list for next Summer, which I probably won't get to do, is Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa. Across the river is an old fur trader settlement and some historic sites, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin . Just made out the weekend work schedule for 2009 and no weekends off from April 18th until October 18th.
