Hi Thanks for all your replies!

Yep tried neatimage but think I need to fiddle a bit more, I seem to lose detail when using it. Unfortunately the Nikon D50 has the lowest shutterspeed of 200. I think I will try overexposing a little to see if that helps. However my latest batch of submissions to SS have just been accepted. Sometimes Its just the textures I think that are being mistaken for noise. Could it be that it is caused by the slow shutterspeeds I use? I generally use a tripod and then let the self-timer do the work. I dont touch the camera in order to make sure that I dont cause camera shake. I may consider using 4 megapixel in the future, so far Ive been shooting everything at 6megapixel in jpeg fine.
