Yeah, I tried it, but to a PS user, the interface is still really...um non-user friendly. Though it has the capability of being close to PS, there's something about it that just doesn't come up to PS; not sure what it is, but somehow when I use it, it feels wrong - can't get some of the functions to work properly, and even with a proper setup can't get a lot of PS filters to work in it either.

It's probably not a good thing for beginners to try - it would frustrate them, but for anybody whose familiar with editing programs but doesn't want to buy one (like PS at $600-700 CDN) The gimp is worth a look.

I've been trialing this software - pretty darn awesome for 25Euros - it's obviously missing some functionality of PS - one of the things I miss most is the ability to create or run actions - the other is the text layer - I'd like to see it work a lot better with more control, though it's not bad. I also don't like the tool tips for the tools - the clone stamp is just cross hairs, and I prefer a circle; the blur tool is a teardrop and it's really hard to tell just where you are going with it, but I find the quality of cloning almost better than PS and the eraser is extremely good too.

(the Photofiltre Studio one - has layers and uses 8bf filters, so most of what works plug-in wise for PS works for this one.)

The user interface is quite similar to PS so it's easy to use if you've used PS. and the 25Euros gets you free upgrades too.

The standard version (Photofiltre) doesn't have layers capability or use of 8bf filters, but the standard one is free, and very functional, and comes with it's own handy plugins.
